Hey everyone, just got my d3 installed today and have run into a couple of problems... In the calabration screen the speed will change as i move or stop but there is no pulse, the count is at 1 and hasnt increased. Does this mean its not connceted to the VSS? The "Distance, left turn right turn" are slowly counting as i drive but not the 3D

Also my dimmer doesnt work.... It was installed in a Chevy Avalanche 03, and they used some aftermarket modules to make the steering controls work and to bypass something... the guy said the stock radio was like control for stuff in the dash and needed another piece. going to take it back tomm.

Your VSS isn't hooked up. Sounds like the illumination wire isn't either

Have them connect the VSS to pin 4, green/white wire, behind the instrument cluster and the illumination to the brown wire at the parking light, and it will fix your problems.

it shows my current speed on the D3 but no speed pulse? Doesnt that mean the vss is connected if its showing my actual driving speed?

Since the VSS isn't connected it is pulling your speed based off of how fast the gps system estimates you are going.

It uses a combination of GPS signal and internal gyroscopes to guess your speed when the VSS wire isn't connected... which is why connecting it isn't absolutely necessary. If you have a good GPS signal, you might be fine without it. But it doesn't hurt to hook it up for better accuracy.

sorry to invade your thread but I kinda have the same problem except the other way around, it has pulse but theres no speed and compass. i insatalled the gps sensor at the bottom of the dash clock, could that be what's causing it? thanks in advance.
