just had my d3 installed and my radio reception is not good... it's ok in some spots then very bad in others... this is with stations that usually get very good reception

Could be the installer did no connect the power antenna lead, there may be a setting in the D3 not done right, or you may have a bad antenna adaptor. I would taqke it back and let them troubleshoot for you.
