Apple's got them on their website again today, the 80GB was on there when I first looked and now nothing. Better act quick if you want one to work with your D3.

how can i tell which ipod are the 5.5 gen

They say 30, 60, or 80 gig video, NOT classic

The 30gb and 60gb video are previous gen. (5th and 5.5th respectively).

If you look on Apple's site, you'll see the following:

AFAIK, there was no 80GB previous generation flavor. I could be wrong though, and probably am.

ETA: I lied, just checked Wikipedia. :D

The refurb'd ipods they sell in their store are only the 5.5 gens. They don't sell anything older than that.

can you tell which gen it is just by looking on back of ipod, or do you have to fire it up and find a screen in the settings

Posted Apr 10, 2008 · 21:49 UTC#10

NO.

The generation is distinguished by storage capacity and type.

Got my iPod yesterday night. Tried it out, works like a charm with the CD-I200 cable. Thanks for the info AVIC411!
