I just had my pioneer avic d3 installed and the gps will only work when the east coast cd is in it. ? is this normal i don't know to much about it and had someone install it. but ounce it makes my route i can then take out cd and it will work but normally it wont let me search for address or Whitney's? is there a way for me to download the maps to the unit. it keeps telling me that this feature is not available in memory mode?

No, you need the disk in there to search for things. Get yourself an ipod and keep the disk in there all the time. Makes things much easier
