So I'm an idiot newbie and when I did the bypass the first time, I broke the tab on the mute wire. Whatever, fine, so now I'm using the Wired Remote wire. BUT, as luck would have it, I now need that wire for my steering wheel control. Grand!

Now the question. Can I buy this wire at a store? What kind/size? And if not, can I just buy the AV harness somewhere? Maybe I would just be better served going this route?

that wire is a remote turn on for an amplifier. you dont need it for steering wheel controls. get the pac-swips. it plugs right in and has minimal wiring

like he said, it has nothing to do with steering controls.

you only use that wire if you have an amp or sub...i think.

And even if you do have an external amp, you can use the antenna wire to turn it on, so you're safe to use that wire for the bypass. You won't be losing out on anything.
