Yeah I know I could search, but it looks like most of the post are the bypass wasnt done correctly or how to bypass. My question is why? I plan on purchasing a Z2. I assume its to play dvd's when driving, I have no interest in watching dvds when i drive.

and to use the navigation while the car is in motion or should I say to have 100% use of the nav. while in motion.

Another feature of unlocking that I found useful was that it enabled naming of library tracks while in motion. I found it took away the pain of my 40 minute commute if I set up my library while in motion...beats taking hours of my my free time sitting in the driveway if I could do it to and from work

what nav features are locked out? I have used the builtin nav unit in my father in laws Accord. I was the passenger, I would look for places to eat and change the route.

Pretty much anything that requires significant input to the touchscreen is locked out when the car is moving if the unit is not bypassed. Looking up POI's, phone operations, editing track information, etc. Some of this can be done via voice commands, but that seems to take much longer and is hit or miss for me.

I also have no interest in watching a movie while driving. The last thing I would want would to be involved in an accident because of it, causing injury to somebody else and exposing myself to a huge legal liability to boot. No thanks -- I'll keep sending the video to the back seat monitor.

I am purchasing a new Jeep Patriot at the end of the year, I think the z2 or the z3 will be better and cheaper the nav system they offer. They dont offer mygig for the patriot
