D3 amp remote wire doest turn off?

First off, Im a installer with over 10 years experience so I know everything is hooked up right.

The problem is, I turn off the D3 and my amp stays on. It doest turn off if I shut off the vehicle though.

So for some reason, the D3's remote wire stays at 12v whenever the vehicle is on, even if the D3 is off and it says "off" in the upper left corner of the screen.

It just seems strange that when you turn it off, the screen still stays on and just says its "off" in the coner of the screen, and the amps stay on.

When I turn somthing off, I want it OFF, not still lit up and amps still on!

Anyone else have or had this problem with their D3?

Pioneer has used a transistor to power the amp turn-on lead. This transistor shorts out. They used to use a 2sb1243 pnp bi-polar transistor in this circuit. I do not however have a manual for this unit and cannot tell you if this is the problem in your unit. Furthermore, even if it is, I don't know the physical location of the transistor in your unit. These transistors were only able to pass .25 watts and this was a common problem with Pioneer car stereos. If everything else is working and switching properly, don't worry about it and install a switch to feed the amp's turn-on lead.

If you happen to have a schematic, I will be able to tell you exactly where the problem is. Good luck!

You can not power the D3 off unless you turn off the car's ignition. The "off" button on the source selection screen just turns off the source it does not turn off the unit, and in turn does not turn off the amp turn on lead. This is basically so you can still hear nav prompts when the audio/video source is turned off.

Basically as long as the car's ignition is on, the unit will be on, and in turn so will the amp turn on lead.

The only thing you can do is to wire in a toggle switch on either the amp turn on lead or the D3's ACC power wire. The first will turn off the amps, the second would turn off the D3 as well as the amps.

Thanks guys...

I guess I'll just be installing a switch on the acc wire or amp turn-on wire.

That sucks the D3 doesnt actually turn off when you want it OFF :(

The whole reason is because of a slight noise that is driving me nuts.....does anyone else find the D3 to be a noisy head unit? I

I ask because Ive rewired my Jeep three different times now changing things around, the first time I was picking up bad feedback through the RCA's from an airbag computer in the console. The second time I was changing to different amps and location so I rewired the Jeep.

Yet I still have a noise that Ive had since day one and I just cant get rid of it.

Its not a ground loop/alternator noise, its just a static feed back of some sort, like a quite hiss when the volume is down low or when the radio is suppose to be off, thats how and when I realized the amp was still on.

So my next test is to unplug the RCA's from the amp with the engine running and the D3 on or off and see if the noise goes away, if not, maybe its the amp.

I just figured its not the amp because Ive had the same noise now with two different configurations and also different amps.

Being that Ive been installing for so long, maybe Im just too picky, but it sucks that I only have these kind of problems on my own vehicles and almost never on the customers :x

It is supposed to stay on so that you can still receive navigation prompts even when you have the deck sourced to "off." Why would you want it otherwise?

I guess if you just can't fix the noise at the source, make it go away some other way :?:
