I see that for the d3 the pics have to be 500x240
This is in pixels correct? And how many pixels can i have per inch?

Look pretty nice? i was using 500x240 pixels at 300 pixels/inch

Yep, inches. I think they look great @ 72, but I'm a bit of a hack. That is, I usually grab base images off the web to start with. Many times I'm literally lifting the emblem from a photo of a vehicle. Too high of a resolution might reveal my pirate ways.
