I can't figure this one out, but what cables do I need to connect the P10 (Nav Traffic XM unit) to my Z1?

I saw one diagram that said just the antenna and IPBus/power harness. Then I see there is a data cable included as well?

If anyone has a Z series with this Nav Traffic unit, let me know what I need.

Thanks,

You need the data cable for NavTraffic only

Sounds good...thank you

Is this also true for a D1? I know I need a data cable, what else? I got no power harness either.

Harness, Data Cable, P-bus Cable, and Antenna

What is the p-bus cable for?

Posted May 10, 2008 · 04:53 UTC#8

Its how the deck communicates with the tuner

I thought that's what the data cable was for.

The data cable is for traffic data. Trust me, or read the instruction manual, it comes with all of those for a reason

....didn't get one. got one?

Harness, Data Cable, P-bus Cable, and Antenna

There is no need for the power cable as long as Data Cable and IP-Bus Cable are connected to the Z1/2/3.

So will be neccessary to have connected XM Antenna, Data Cable(out) and IP-Bus (out) Cable.

Thats incorrect. You still need power and ground hooked up

Wiring Note

Power Wiring: If the unit is connected with an IP-Bus cable, it is not necessary to connect the red (+12 volts switched) power lead. The receiver may not work properly if the IP-Bus cable and the red power lead are used together. The Installation Manual incorrectly states that both leads should be connected. A manual correction sheet is provided

Looks like the power does not have to be connected when IP-Bus is being connected.

Did anybody installed the unit just with IP-Bus cable and no power cable connected?

Thanks.

You should read the installation manual or open the box and you will find that there is a yellow and red power wire on the harness. That is why your quote says "The Installation Manual incorrectly states that both leads should be connected." When you finally open the box you will also see the bright yellow sheet of paper which is "A manual correction sheet is provided" That piece of paper will provide a handy illustration of exactly what I have told you

Bottom line...Skip the red, connect the yellow power wire or your shit won't work

You're right, the yellow cable has to be connected anyway.
