Just got in Z2 and am ready for install!
The info is on the site, I've read it, BUT I have read so much info that I have now confused myself
... thus the BLONDE QUESTION:
Steps To Install a Z2 (Manufact: May 2007) with 2008 Updated System & Maps:
2 wire bypass ONLY
TA DA!
OR
2 wire bypass
download z2 bypass update
install update
reset system
TA DA!
OR
WHAT...

My question was regarding doing the 2 wire bypass and having the system work, however, IF you take the time to read the Sticky, it clearly reads :: FOR ALL UNITS MADE SINCE 2006 OR ANY UNIT UPDATED WITH THE BLUETOOTH UPDATE CD"
Somehow, I believe myZ2 would fall into that catagory... 
so all I have to do is the 2 wire bypass, then CHECK and RECHECK wires to be sure they are in the harness CORRECTLY, TIGHTLY, and GROUNDED.

You only need the 2 wire bypass. Forget the BT, etc updates. Does not apply to your Z.
Do I still need to burn the image to the disc and install it to get the bypass to function properly? That is where I got confused...
If you have the 2008 maps and system update, then you will not need to burn any images. Install per instructions, do the 2 wire bypass, done...

When you say "updated with 2008 maps" that means you have put the Z3 image on your HD right? Otherwise you will need the update to get your May 2007 deck bypassed with the 2-wire method.
No, I haven't even installed the Z2 yet. The company told me that I could order the Z2 or the Z2 with the 2008 updated maps and system which costs a little more.

itd cost you roughly $20-$30 less to buy an unlocked z3 drive on ebay. and it comes with all the 08 maps
