i have tried setting the clock but the + or - signs dont work on that screen. do i have to ground the emergency brake wire for it to let me set the time? i also get a popping noise when i shut off the car. is this normal with this radio?

Parking brake is light blue @ the lever, reverse lights are light green under the driver's door sill, and VSS is brown, pin 14 at the diagnosic connector on the right side of the steering column under the dash.
