Okay so I bought my AVIC D-3 from a private seller. I installed my Head unit and start up the system. It asks for the Navigation cd so I did. I put in the EAST coast one and shows up for California...then I put the west coast still won't let me go to where I live which is Virginia. The Nav won't pick up where I'm at even though I put east coast cd in. It won't reset it just keeps the arrow as I'm in California.
Problem with navigation on D3
Is the antenna cable connector firmly inserted into the unit, and where is the antenna mounted?
it was mounted on the left of the driver's side outside. This was just a temp spot to see if the GPS worked. But even with a location that might not be the best the GPS should still work. I don't have the VSS wired to it yet either but that shouldn't matter either. It starts the NAVI at LA even though I put a east coast cd in..and I live in VA...yeahh still weird.
help!!
You still have to set your region after you put the disk in.If that was done then you might have a defective unit.Another person on this site had a similar problem and he returned it,bought another one and all was fine.Try a reset with the car on.
I'm in VA too and I have the same thing happening.
My antenna is mounted on the rear deck of my Lexus GS430 it is on teh metal pad but that pad is simply stuck onto my carpeted rear deck. Should I "ground' the pad to the metal chassis of the car ?
Otherwise I'll pack it up and send it to the original vendor for a replacement. Can I take my unit to a Pioneer service center to have it checked out before sending it out for replacement ?
Thanks,
Dave (also GPS-less in VA)
I see you found the thread I was referring to.He sent his back to the vendor.Pioneer won't help!I suggest you do the same but first try moving the antenna to the dash just to see if it will make a difference.Grounding the plate won't help.
