So I created the CD the correct way and I'm able to import the pictures onto my screen, but is there a way to permanently add them to the HD? I would like to be able to change them w/out having to use the CD...

Unfortunatley no. A few guys on here are working on hacking the hard drives and if they do get it done right I am sure that they will be able to figure out a way for us all to put whatever we want on the drives, but for now no.
