so i got my avic z1 and the install was ok. but when i play dvd it has no sound. even when i play music cd i cant hear anything. pls help

is there sound coming from the radio and navigation?

no sound on the navi also but the radio works fine.

Power antenna setting needs to be set to power on instead of radio only. You must have a built in amp in the car or an external amp if this is happening.

Shouldn't an amp be on the Amp wire (blue/white wire from Z1) not the Auto Antenna (blue wire from Z1) wire?

ya but if i set the auto antenna to power i can hear the dvd sound but i cant see the picture anymore. if the auto antenna is set to radio only i can see picture but no sound.

Take the radio out and hook up the amp wire instead of the antenna wire.

:D I just had my Z1 installed yesterday, 150 miles down the road. I was most of the way home before I quit playing with the Navi and listening to the radio, when I checked out the CD playing and ripping...NO SOUND!!!
Needless to say my installer's solutions didn't work (from a distance)
You guys rock. It was the power antenna setting.
Thanks again. Hopefully I can return the favour (favor for you folk south of the border)
