I am having some AVIC D3 Problems. Let me start by telling you all about my car:

2002 Corvette Convertible

AVIC D3 Installed about 4 months ago.

Its currently connected to the PAC OEM1 Adapter to use the BOSE speakers. (I do have some new speakers, just waiting for some free time to install them)

PAC Adapter is connected to stock ground and stock power if that makes a difference....

Pioneer Ipod Cable

RCA's from the sub preout to my JL Audio 500/1 and connected to my JL Audio 12 w6v2.

Here is my problems:

1. It seems I am getting no output from the RCA's to my sub amp. The amp does turn on and I have tested the amp with a MP3 Player and it plays perfect. While I tested it, I had the remote turn on, turn my amp on during the testing. In the AVIC's settings, the sub is on and set to max and still no result.

2. When plugged into the ipod cable, the sound is very destorted and sounds really bad compared to the Radio or the DVD. I tried messing with the SLA and it did not fix the ipod's sound. The SLA did increase the sound of the DVD to be about the same level as the radio though.

All of these problems came about when I was switching my amps. I went from an Alpine to my new JL Audio. Before switching my amps, the alpine amp was working perfectly.

I've called the Pioneer help desk and the guy was no help.

What can I do to test the RCA cables to see if I am getting output? I do have a multimeter.

I am about to rip out the bose with my new front speakers and I was wanting to test some things first before I send the AVIC to pioneer for repair.

Please advise.....

Thanks,

Justin

Is it possible that you're using the wrong RCA outputs from the D3? If you're using the front or rear full range outputs and the high pass filter is enabled, it would basically make no sound if connected to a sub amp with it's low pass filter turned on.

Yes, the RCA's are connected to the sub preout. I had an alpine amp before my JL amp install. And the alpine amp worked perfect. Something happened during the install of the JL amp.. But what??

You say you tested the amp with an mp3 player and it worked fine... so I'm guessing you hooked the mp3 player right to the amplifier's input terminals and it worked?

Try hooking it to the amp through the RCA cables (plug the mp3 player into the D3 side of the RCA cables) If the amp still works, there's something wrong with the D3. If the amp doesn't work, there's something wrong with the RCA cables.

Yes, I connected the MP3 player directly to the amp with RCA to earphone convertor.

I will try connecting to the RCA's at the other end near the AVIC to see if the RCA's are good....

But what about the ipod's sound?

Is my avic just messed up? It is still under the original manufacture warr. Has anybody had to deal with Pioneer's repair service?

Thanks,

Justin

I don't know about the ipod problem... for most of the ipod problems I've dealt with, there's either sound, or there isn't. Try going into the ipod's menu and turning off the equalizer and volume leveling, if either of them are on.

Its looking like I need to have it repaired....

Has anybody dealt with Pioneer's warranity service? for Repair? It has only been about 5 or 6 months and I did purchase the D3 through a Pioneer approved vendor.

You shouldn't have a problem if it's less than a year old and was purchased from a licensed vendor. Just call up pioneer and tell them you have a faulty unit and you should be able to send it in for repairs or replacement.
