problem connecting ipod classic 160 gb to AVIC Z3

Ok, im having this issue where when i connect my ipod to the avic z3 the on screen ipod icon doesnt light up i cant click on it.. instead it detects a usb device in the EXT... I DONT want that, it connects but it doesnt use the ipod feature on the Z3 how do i make this work?? anyone please help me thanks!!

Which ipod are you using? CDIB100 or CDIB100ii? Or something else?

how do i find out which one i have? im lookin at the ipod box it says

iPOD classic 160gb black, MB150C/A.

oh i see, i am not sure it is a gray usb cable.. i had a shop install my AVIC Z3 and sound system.. didnt do it myself...

You bought the wrong adaptor. Take it back and tell them you need the CDIB100 or CDIB100ii. It will not be a USB cable, it will have the ipod dock connector on the end
