Hey guys.

New Z2 installed (in an '07 GMC Envoy Denali) over the weekend (I did not perform the install myself), and I've got a couple of issues.

1) Auto-dimming for night time. This does not work. I understand the dimming should occur automatically when the headlights come on. The installer showed me two (2) orange ILL wires (one had a white stripe, IIRC). He connected both of these wires separately and together, at my suggestion, to the vehicle's ILL wire (this was coming out of the add-on Onstar wiring harness adapter) and no combo worked to induce nighttime illumination with the headlights on (or off, for that matter). Any ideas?

2) The daytime brightness seems very weak (I have adjusted the dimmer/brightness/contrast settings). It is almost unviewable in anything other than a shadow (and if you're wearing sunglasses - polarized or not - forget seeing the screen). Am I missing something here? I understood this was supposed to be an easily viewed screen in daylight. Maybe there is a protective film I wasn't diligent enough in removing?

I can't give you vehicle specific info, but I can see mine easily in the daylight.

Sounds like your installer may have you hooked up with the unit thinking it's night time (already dimmed). What color is the background when you view your maps? Mine is black at night, so if your is in the daytime, then they've got your wires crossed...

Adjusting the dimmer, and only the dimmer should make the screen plenty bright to see. You either have an installation problem or a hardware problem

the installer didn't tap into the dimmer wire located on the left side of the steering wheel. that will do the trick.

I have the 1st problem as well... it doesn't switch to night mode at all.
