z2 has been working fine until last week i started the car and there was no audio. no sound with fm, dvd, sirius, ipod or library. the buttons dont even beep when i push them. then i come back later, start the car and presto, the sound is back. It is not like hitting bumps while driving and the sound cuts out, it is either there when i start the car or its not. the car is a 2005 corvette. everything is working except there is no sound. i read on this site that the z2 has a protection circuit and maybe something is grounding out and tripping this circuit and causing all audio to be cut off. tomorrow i will go to the installer and he is going to check all the connections. if anyone has anything to suggest about what may be causing this, please post it. thanks!

ok. one day later, and the problem has been found! thanks to my installer, he tracked the problem down to a faulty wire harness (gmah24b, made by peripheral). he found it by hooking up external speakers to the head unit, and they make sound, so the head unit was not the problem. it had to be downline from the head unit. as luck would have it, i had an extra gmah24b on hand. we hooked that up in place of the old one and presto, all is good again! All audio is functioning and i did the update cd that fixes the freeze up issue last week, so everything is functioning correctly! now, i need to rewire the illumination wire so the screen dims down with the headlights on. that just leaves the ipod integration, it is so painfully slow, how can you possibly scroll through 2000 songs so slowly? what is pioneer thinking? perhaps i can create some playlists a-d,e-h,i-l etc that will allow me to search quicker? that is my next project.
