Problems after update?

Sorry, Another noob with a problem. I have a AVIC-Z2 manufactured in June of 07, Originally I did just the 2-wire brake modification (Which I have done several times in the past) It worked for awhile, but eventually started locking out the video again when the vehicle moved. I ended up downloading the software update and burning the image to a disc as instructed per instructions #2. I installed the update..just as the instructions said...and everything seemed to be going along just fine. BUT, when I rebooted everything seems to be working just fine with one major exception: Whenever I put a DVD disc in, it comes up as a unreadable-So I have no way of telling if the update worked or not. Funny thing is, I can still play regular CD's and MP3 discs in the unit, but NO DVDs. Please help....I have tried resetting the unit numerous times, and have even tried installing the update again, which it won't let me do.

Please, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Well, if the 2-wire bypass worked, the update disc shouldn't have. What happened when you tried to run it? Did it say already updated? or did it go through the process of copying files and rebooting?

It's possible you borked the drive, or there's some dust on the lens, or that the DVDs are actually unreadable! Dust on the lens would still allow CDs to be read, as it's a much wider track than DVDs.

The 2-wire bypass worked for only a day...I was driving around with video just fine after I first did the bypass, but the next day I was back to normal. I did the update because it was a June 07 manufactured unit...and it accepted it, went through the complete update sequence and then rebooted itself. After that I hit the reset button and it restarted everything again...and I thought everything was going smoothly until I went to play a DVD disc. First of all it seemed to take awhile to read the disc anyhow...but then it eventully would just say "unreadable-disc". Obvisouly I tried several brand new discs, but kept getting the same message. Now, after I did this update, it will not let me run the update again. Is there a way I can uninstall this update? or is there any other updates I could try to resolve this problem. I have spent a lot of time reading other peoples posts and havent run accross a similar problem, so I am definetly open for suggestions. Once again, thanks in advance.

It will cost you $5 but you can wipe your drive with the HDD unlock program and reload the z3 image. I did this last night and my 2 wire bypass that was on my z2 is still working fine. I did not even have to run the bypass update cd again.
