few things, i just had a D2 instaled today. the d2 i bought from a guy who had an ipod plugged into it, i believe through a 3.5 mm jack.

there is a 3.5mm chord poking out from the bottom of the install that appears to accept an Ipod. When i plug it in it plays over the CD/Radio and with low quality only from the back left of my VW GTI.

also, when i put a disc in for the western US, it says please insert appropriate disc. It appears to read a disc for the east just fine, although the east disc is pirated/copied.

any ideas?

First, you should have the appropriate IBUS connector for the iPod - find it on eBay or wherever you like to shop. The unit is designed for a specific type of iPod connector. I've actually got an extra one in a box I was going to put on eBay if you want to buy it. Anyway, the read error seems to be fairly common and a search will show you several of us that have had it. Some "fixes" out there, but nothing for sure. I finally pulled mine and sent it in for service. If yours is a new unit, I'd start a warranty repair claim for it soon if you don't find anything immediately wrong, like a loose connection. Try another West disc - you might have better luck.
