Hello All...
I just installed the d3 in my 2002.5 VW Passat...thanks to all of the 411 members. I would have not been able to to the install without all of the knowledge available here. One of the main reasons I choose the d3 was avic 411...I am a member of clubb5 at passatworld.com, and have found their forums very valuable over the years...and I have found the same community here...so thanks to all of the posters and mods...(especially Christian @ EnfigCarStereo).
Install is into a 2002.5 vw passat sedan with the premium sound system...installed d3, sirus tuner sirpnr2, pac-swips and pac-swican for the steering wheel control, pac c2r-vw, metra 40-eu55, pioneer adt va133 cage, cdi200 iPod cable.
Install took about 5 hours...had to make some adjustments to the interior stock radio cage, but nothing too major...fits nice and flush...really looks like it is oem, especially with the red lights at night...navi antenna is under the dash... gets 5-7 bars depending on my location...sirus antenna goes through the headliner through to the rear trunk lid...gets good reception except in tall buildings downtown.
Looks great...such a nice upgrade from the stock double din radio/cd player....makes me want to drive more!
