I just bought a SIR-PNR2 for my AVIC-Z1, and was wondering if I have to run 2 antennas? Do i need one for the sirius, and one for the gps?

Thanks

the Sirius antenna get the best satellite reception if placed on the roof. The GPS can be placed on the dash and get good results.

You don't have any issues with it on your dash? That would be a prefered option to having 2 antennas on the roof.

None at all. I think at least 75% of the GPS antennas are placed on the dash or under.

I'm going to do that. That will look alot nicer than having two on the roof. I was an installer but stopped atleast ten years ago... before anyone could afford nav. Mostly did alarms. I'm in new territory.

Thanks

What is your opinion on the Viper 5900?

For ~ 200-250 + install you get alot for your money. That is way more advanced than when I was doing it. Built in relays was a big deal when I was doing it, but now most all the better systems have them. That system seems very nice.

I have that alarm on my truck.I'm thinking about getting a proximity sensor installed also. You need a good alarm when you have these type of systems installed.

Yeah, I completely agree. I live in a pretty bad area, and at my last place had my car broken into atleast 5 times in 3 years. I've been looking for a new system, and I might look into these some more.

I really like the paging aspect of the system.I want to be notified if someone tried to break in.
