So Ducati Boy's mod works great when it is working, however I have to reset my AVIC-Z1 at least once a day. Once the reset is done it works fine until it comes up with the message that the parking break adapter is improperly installed.

Could this be from a bad ground or do I have a faulty bypass?

Sounds like you grounded the parking brake wire. It needs to be un grounded.

yea dude, wen u start movin it sets off the z1's motion sensors while ur parking is grounded, thats y u get that error message. leave it floatin by cuttin the wire, then tape it or zip-tie it up to make sure itz secure.

It would be nice if people would read instructions before installing things. I'm sure this oversight is attributable to male egos. Your problem is a result of the Z1's parking wire is connected to your parking brake. Like the previous post said, cut the wire.

I don't know if anyone is "blaming" you, but it's very common even for professionals to not follow the directions when installing.

And my guess is that the parking brake wire might be grounded all the time, not just connected to the parking brake switch.

Just note that putting a switch on the parking brake wire that leads to ground is a great way as well.

When the switch is off then the wire is "floating" and everything should work as Ducatiboy has listed.

When you flip the switch it should trigger the error message and disable everything.

How is this possibly useful you may ask? Well consider getting pulled over by the cops. It works as a safety feature that will lock your unit back up for further protection from the law, if and when they pull you over.

ok, now I'm pissed - I just looked at the installation and he messed it up BIG TIME. The mod he attacted the illumination wire & ground wire together and connected the illumination wire that is suposed to connect to the deck to the parking brake wire...

What an idiot!
