Just finished cover to hide my Avic in my Tacoma. Took about 2 hours. Used 1/8" backer board. Put some felt on sides to wedge it so it doesnt move.

Pure genius. Good job.

Now you just have to hope there are no thirsty criminals in the vicinity.

Thx. Tip if anyone makes one...put a bit of hot glue under cups so they dont roll around on floor when your not using.

Posted Jun 25, 2008 · 21:46 UTC#5

how do you get it to stay put up there?

Posted Jun 25, 2008 · 21:57 UTC#6

Looks to me like it's just wedged in there from the sides and held in by the pressure?

Posted Jun 26, 2008 · 16:02 UTC#7

My D-3 is recessed in the bezel. The cupholder is about 1/16 inch smaller than the opening. With some felt on sides it's wedged in there enough to not move when I slam my doors.

Nice job!

Posted Oct 09, 2008 · 18:47 UTC#18

Only trouble with that is.....

It looks like you dont have a radio/stereo etc

Criminals aren't that dumb.

I'm going to make one for mine (haven't gotten around to it yet but I have the parts)

I'm going to use part of an installation kit I have here and a faceplate from an old pioneer unit that doesn't work anymore

It will basically look like theres a cheap pioneer raido/cd player in there and a cubby hole under it. I'm going to cut a couple pens in half and glue them on, so it'll look like theres pens in the lower cubby.

Ive set it all up in there to see what it'll look like, and basically you cant tell its not a $99 stereo.

I took a few minutes today and clipped a few tabs off the thing and laid it on top of the D3 and took a picture

It's not done but you get the idea

Epic Success!

I love it!

you can be sure your picture is now on all thieves forums...

mother in law photo, printed map, old shirt or cup holder : the car that has to be visited is clearly designed.

Good job anyway

Posted Jul 24, 2010 · 21:34 UTC#22

Yeah the problem I see with this is just that it seems to be obvious that you are hiding a fancy stereo since there appears to be no radio in the car at all, which would be highly unlikely.
