I cant get my vss to work. I have it hooked up to the wire described here:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthr ... ?t=1948171

It worked for a while, then after taking the stereo out to get it to fit better, I have no vss pulse when moving. I have taken the stereo out and checked the connection 3 times. I cant figure it out....is there a way to "short" a vss wire and screw it up?????

Any ideas?????

If you shorted your VSS wire your car will have stalling problems. If you tapped the wire then I'm sure it's not getting a connection, sometimes the metal piece doesn't cut thru the insulation good and you have no contact.Have you tested the VSS wire for a signal?

I cut the wire and connected it directly. Maybe Im crazy and it never worked and this wire isnt' a vss wire...does anybody know...the car is a 2002 corvette z06

Is the wire green/white?

yes

Have you tested it to make sure you have a signal since you cut the wire?

i dont have any way to test it....but I tapped into the wire right by the ECU and I still dont have any signal.....

Can you get a volt meter?

Posted Jun 19, 2008 · 14:21 UTC#9

I guess I can buy one. I cant see the vss wire at the ecu being bad though....

It shouldn't be bad but you want to verify a signal before you check anything else.

Ok, I have a meter, but how do I test this??

I've had this wire hooked up in two places now, and I went through and looked at all of the connections....I cant figure out what is going on here.

Ok switch the meter to volts attach the red wire to the Vss wire and the black wire to ground(anywhere on the car).Drive the car a few yards. If the meter value rises when you accelerate and lowers when you come to a stop then thats the correct wire and it's working.
