Will my stock sub woofer work with the F90BT?
SUB WOOFER
Of course. ![]()
there are some kits you can get to hookup you new headunit to the STOCK amp. But that only works if somone makes it for your car.
Otherwise you will need to see if you can tap inot your stock amp some other way.
If that fails you will need to buy a new amp for your sub.
Year, make and model of car?
My stock sub works with it, but I still plan on getting a aftermarket sub. The stock sub sucks and unfortunately, I can't control the sub individually with the sub control feature (which will work with aftermarket subs).
For newer vehicles, you can use a factory integration adapter from metra or pac audio. They allow you to retain all functionality of your stock system including door chimes, hvac integration, onstar and factory sound systems. These adapters are nice because all the extra wires you need for navigation units are branched off of it (i.e. vss, parking brake, reverse wire for cameras, etc.) Makes for a relatively easy install as far as wiring is concerned because you can do all the splicing outside of your vehicle and then just plug it into your factory harness.
The only down side is price (usually $100-$150) and the bulkiness. You have to have some room in your dash to make this thing fit!
Hope this helps!
JL audio Clean Sweep is becoming very popular with the new car buffs that want to retain the factory stereo equipment. The Clean Sweep systems allow you to uprade speakers, amps eq's etc. whilie improving overall sound almost as good as any aftermarket kit.
check it out.
Kirkelli, the Cleansweep is meant to use the factory head unit and add aftermarket speakers, amps and subs. It doesn't really make sense if you are replacing the head unit. Hchavez is looking to do it the other way around by putting in the F90Bt with stock speakers. All he really needs is basically a factory wiring harness.

I don't know which one of these is the one you need. Maybe either of them will work, they both cover your year of vehicle.

see what i get for reading between lines.... gotcha... your right factory wiring harnes will do him..
Just to add a few 2-cents to the Cleansweeep, i had the oppurtunityy to check my neighbors Cleansweep install in his new Honda Accord. He installed Polks spearkers and subwooofers and retained the factory radio/nav. I was truly impressed, the sound quality and bass and eq adjustmens was as best i've seen in several thousands $$$ systems...
Well if you think about it, that factory nav and whatever speakers and amps he put in plus the cleansweep module... he's running a system that cost several thousands anyway.
That's good to know about the Cleansweep, though! I was considering using that in my 08 Trailblazer before I just decided to go all out and get a Z3. One of the deciding factors was that I hadn't really heard much about Cleansweep and I wasn't sure I could trust the units ability to process a stock signal.

The investment in a Clean Sweep is probably equal to a complete system update. In my mind the, Clean Sweep would be good in situations where the stock radio unit has interfaces with other components in the auto. For example, The Hybrids use the NAV screen to show volatages and ampers to each electric motor, the percentage of use, and battery condition. I dont think this logic info can not be intergrated into a new NAV head unit, I might be wrong, but not aware of it. Other examples, some auto manufactors are intergrating climate control into the nerve center, which just happens to be the cars factory Head Unit. Some are even intergrating air bag telementary through the HU. These situations is when the Clean Sweep comes into play.
Ok new question.
Will my factory sub woofer be sufficient if I have speakers on the door panels that are connected to a amplifier.
And yes I know, I could install it and listen to it. But I want advice from someone with experience with this sort of thing.
Thanks

Nope your factory sub will not be sufficient and the best door panel spekers, (polk audios my opinion) will not come close to providing the low freqs a good sound sub woofer system would. Jesh,, im over 50 and find myself bulding nice tight subwoover systems for my vehicles. I dont adjust my audio systems too loud to interfere with other cars around me. I install the best quality speakres i can, use the cleanest highest power amps I can afford and build tight subwoofer systesm usually in two 10 sealed box form. And i drive the sub woofers with an amplifer rated 25% higher then the subs are rated. The result, nice cleane, distortation free music that you can enjoy from Sacramtento to L.A.
My prefrence are Polk Audio componets, Boston G510 Series Subs, The new Eclipse 'Ice" amplifers and a good head unit Eclipse being the prefered. Pioneers with a good line driver works well too.
My wife and I spend a fair amount of time in our vehicles due to long travels. So good music is a must. I just cant wait unitl Sirus launches the rumored 50 + channelle Auto Video service. Watching Nascar with surround sound cant get much better. And if I wanted to show some kid next to me who has more steam... I could do that to... and that is kind of fun somtimes.

That would depend on the size of the factory sub and the wattage of the amplifier hooked to it in comparison to what speakers you are putting in the doors and how much watts you will be running to those. Until we know those numbers, there's really no way to be sure.
And I know you said you didn't want to hear it, but I'd say just hook it all up and see, because you're going to install the speakers and amp anyway. And if it ends up that the factory sub isn't up to par, replace it.
Depends on sub, amp and speaker size and what kind of sound you are looking for. My first thought is probably not, however, it will definately sound much cleaner after installing the Premier deck. It probably wont have much throat in the form of tight, powerful bass though.
The thing is, it doesn't really matter because if you are getting the new deck, you need the metra adapter anyway, whether you use factory or aftermarket speakers.
My advice would be to start with the HU/adapter and see how it sounds. If you are happy with it, go with it. If not, you can always upgrade speakers/sub/amps later.

The Pioneer Edition Sport Trac includes an eight-inch IMPP subwoofer with an 11.5-liter enclosure
Adding a 300/4v2 Class A/B Four-Channel Full-Range Amplifier (75 W RMS x 4 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm 11V-14.5V)
JL VR525-CSi Component Systems
JL TR570-CXi Coaxials
And of course the Premier Fidgety-90bt
Yeah... I really don't think that sub isn't going to cut it.
Maybe you can replace the sub using the stock enclosure and run a better amp to it... like one of these maybe: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=27
Ok, I'm starting a fund. Donations welcome. LOL
i usually splice in an RCA jack in ford vehicles with a factory sub, there's usually 4 wires, sub +/-, remote turn on, and a ground, then you can control the factory sub with the radio
