I wanted to post this for anyone having problems with the screen blank

The flex cable problem

To get your unit fixed for free you need to send to

Pioneer Electronics

ATTN: Flex Cable Upgrade

2162 Dividend Dr.

Columbus, OH 43228

With something stating the problem

and return address information

I had my N1 repaired by a 3rd party.. I then submitted a claim to Pioneer for this repair, just got a call yesterday a check was being issued for the repairs. Cost me $130.00.

Does anyone know for sure?

The N-1 in my Chevy 3500 finally went down, wow, 3 yrs on it. Lessee if Pioneer fixes it. I'll keep y'all informed.

Well, it does NOT look like Pioneer is going to repair my N-1, so I bought a D-3 to replace it, then got rid of the truck.....go figure. I'll be rolling a '90 Thunderbird Super Coupe (manual tranny, in excellent condition, 83k original miles, never seen a body shop), and I am contemplating a double-DIN (AVIC-F900BT) install. I am waiting to see if I can aquire a replacement radio/info center bezel, in case things do not work out, and to return the dash to factory condition, if I ever decide to sell the car(not likely).

I just sent mine in without setting up a claim and had no problem. Got it back a week later with the repaired flex cable.

What do you mean by, 'sent mine in without setting up a claim'? Did you simply send it to them without an RA#(return approval), and Pioneer fixed it and sent it back? No warranty issues?

Tell me more!!!

Yep!

Hmmmmm. How old was your N1?

Posted Aug 17, 2008 · 21:29 UTC#11

A couple years old. Maybe 2 years...? I registered it June 6th 2007 because I sent it in before to get the flex cable replaced. This is the second time it was ripped.

I'm sending it out tomorrow, using a borrowed N-2 in the meantime...we'll see what happens.

Sweet, lets hope they perform the repair.

Typically they want a RMA # or something.

Last time you called, you gave them your serial number right? This is how they typically track these.

Let us know the outcome. I had mine done a few months ago, my N1 was from 2004. Works great!
