hey guys, i just wanted to let you know i was able to get an April-made Z1 at Circuit City today.

When I didn't see any on display, I asked them if they sold them and they said the have one in back. When I asked if I could look at the box, he came back with just the box. It said april, but where was the unit??

He said that the guys intended to use it as a display item but then got yelled at by his manager when they told them not to use it as a display. So it was taken out of the box and mounted on the wooden board, but never powered on. I asked if I could get an open box discount and he agreed.

Regular price was $2250 + tax

Price I got was $1969/inst included + tax

This includes the warranty and yada yada.

I can also return it to any circuit city if i change my mind within a month.

Considering it's an April unit, I'm happy. But how good of a deal do you think I got? The most important thing to me is that it's a pre-July unit. Maybe that's the price I have to pay to be sure I get one..

These days, what you got is worth it's weight.... be happy you found one before paying anything. I say you did just fine.

You got a decent deal but they mislead you a little. Circuit City actually has the unit on sale for $2049 with free installation. I got an April '06 unit last week and had it installed (for free) today.

So you actually got about $80 off total. You might want to go back and complain to the manager that they didn't tell you it was on sale (look at the website). They might do a price correction and refund part of the cost. It's certainly worth a shot.

Thanks!! You are the man!! I gave the manager a call and told him the situation. He checked on the computer and the price was listed at $2249.99. But he dropped the price down to $1899 anyways due to the internet price!!

btw.. how's your Z1 running??

Mine's running fine (although it was only installed yesterday), but the store manager is playing games with you. See the attached screen I pulled off CC TODAY! While it's only $150 off now that's still the price he should have started from in giving you the open box discount.
