i have a 05 tC as well

it looks really nice. Did the installer have any problems installing it because of the hood?

And also...because of the hood...do you have no complaints about the brightness of the screen due to the area being slightly hooded

I drive an 07 tC, what wires did you tap/wiring harness did you use?

Posted Jun 30, 2008 · 17:22 UTC#5

well honestly I dont remember because I already had a pioneer D1 in there that I installed last year so all I did is remove the D1 harness and replaced it with the F900 harness

I was wondering if you hooked up the Speed sensor wire and if you did, where is it located?

Posted Jul 01, 2008 · 22:06 UTC#7

I did hook up the vss wire. I know its behind the glove box. Ill check it when my back feels better

VSS WIRE Violet At ECM (behind glove box) AC

Posted Aug 16, 2008 · 05:58 UTC#9

Thats straight clean and stealthy set up!

Posted Aug 16, 2008 · 14:42 UTC#11

that is so nice plus you can close the cover and have a theft proof system

That is not the only VSS Wire

The easiest one to use is the Yellow in the 3rd Radio Harness, not that two that are typically used. It is also a VSS for factory nav, if they decide to incorporate it one day, and it makes for a cleaner install, all the wires are in the same place essentially.

I also have an 07 tC you can use the Metra MET 99-1761, the typical Toyota Smart Harness, Plug in the two outlets to their respective coordinating harnesses and cut the smart end off. From there go color for color on the Pioneer harness to the smart harness, solder & tape.

Ground the parking brake wire, do the pin replacement for the bypass, find the yellow wire in the 3rd radio harness, used for incorporation of factory nav when they release a capable unit, for your VSS, no need to go behind the glove box and look on the ECM.

Run your GPS antenna along the drivers side, if you look up under the dash there is a hole that can be used to run the GPS wire through, it will come out on the driver side slightly behind the firewall, I generally place the antenna on a discrete portion of the windshield secured with double sided tape. To be more specific in the lower right hand corner of the windshield and tuck the excess wire either behind the radio or zip tied under the dash.

Voila! You are done.

So where is the mic mounted?

So where is the mic mounted?

In my tC the mic right next to the courtesy lights. I used a uni-bit and made a hole the exact size of the mic and flush mounted it there. I can take a pic of two if you like.

you mean the map lights?

Yeah, a pic would be great...

I was thinking of pulling the trim around the speedo and "sticky-ing" it to the bottom left corner of the speedo trim (in the center ring), but I like the flush mount idea, too.

What did you use to fill the gaps around the head unit?

Posted Aug 23, 2008 · 20:42 UTC#19

I got a kit from a local shop for $20

Just tell 'em you need an install kit for your car.

Pretty sweet. How does it work with the sun roof open?

I have my mic installed, temporarily, in the cubby under the climate control and it works well, but does not look like a finished install.
