Is my D3 and/or BT module bad?

I have been trying to get my D3 to accept the phonebook transfer from my cell phone, and after following the countless variations of instructions I have found here, nothing works. My phone is a Nokia N95-3, it supports all the required BT profiles. Here is what happens:

1) I set my phone to "ask permission" when the D3 attempts to connect.

2) Start up the D3, it tries to pair to the phone, I accept.

3) go into BT Telephone source, then function, and then hit Phonebook transfer button.

4) At this point is where it goes bad. According to all the instructions, the D3 screen should go to something like "transferring phonebook". This does not happen. The screen it goes to is the main BT-Telephone screen, with no phone paired, so it just has the "hide" button in the lower right corner.

5) At this stage I have tried to send a contact (single, multiple, whole list) via BT, and always get a connection error.

If I dont transfer the phonebook at step 5, after about 20 seconds, the D3 tries to pair up to my phone again, and if I accept it, it pairs in the normal usage mode (whichever profile that is, HFP?).

So I really dont know where to go from here on this. At one point in the past on a different phone (either a Sony W810i or Nokia N95-1, cant recall) I was able to send the phonebook to the D3.

Other things I have tried with no success include clearing all data in the BT section of the D3, unregistering the phone, removing the D3 from the phone's BT list.

As for the method to actually send the data from the N95, I have tried sending a 'business card' via BT, as well as Sync'ing the contact list via BT. Neither seem to work. My phone is set to be visible to all BT devices.

I'm at a loss at this point. Appreciate any assitance you guys and gals might be able to offer up!
