I have a AVIC-D3 with a rearview camera and it works while in reverse but I cannot view it while driving . I know that you can go to your navi menu and select it but there is no picture .

sounds like the camera's power wire is wired to the reverse light. the camera should be wired to the accessory power wire.

Exactly. If the camera is getting it's power from the reverse wire, it will only be on when the car is in reverse.
