There is a rumor out there and I need somebody to test it.

The pigtail connector with the back-up camera input has 4 blank pins. One of these pins needs to see one negative pulse during startup.

Any daring souls wanna try?

P.S. - use a 1amp fuse for your safety.

It is NOT confirmed, but I need somebody to try this and give feedback.
Please do so at your own risk!

That's what I was thinking as well, I was looking into how the D2 (and D1's) were bypassed and thought that the Z1 might have the same thing. I want to really analyze these pins for signals before grounding them willy-nilly. I plan on doing this to my "demo" Z1 to see if that has any effect.

i think this may lead somewhere. fingers crossed.

The D1's and D2's have a connector (it's the main power connector on the D models) which has an open hole (spot for a wire). It needs to be grounded as well. The Z1 has no open spaces on that connector, but on connector 2 there are 4 pins. I was thinking that one? Maybe All? Maybe a combination? Of those needed to be grounded and then ground the parking brake wire all the time. This is how it works on the D models. I thought maybe it was a good place to start.

I hadn't thought about a "negative pulse" but I suppose that it's possible it needs something like that as well. I think the D models are grounded 24/7. But I thought that maybe there is a use of the unused pins in that other connector on the Z1 that might lead somewhere.

That's what I was focusing my efforts on. There is still a little more work before we know for sure, so don't any one get all excited yet. Of course if anyone wants to try messing with theirs as well, feel free to email me or pm me with what you are trying and what you find.

So we're saying the newer Z1s cannot be bypassed with the original bypass setup from Ducati?

Yes, that statement is true.

Something I was thinking about - if the bypass stops every 15 minutes between shorting the parking break and disconnecting the VSS, can you simply do that every 15 minutes? (As in, can a circuit be made to do this?)
Or, does the playback pause immediately when you apply the parking break signal?

Interesting reading fellahs! a little off topic...but I spoke to a manager at Pioneer today and he was well aware of this site....

No big deal...I think they monitor it to see what kinds of problems people are having...

Oh well...back to your discussions, boys...

Keep up the good work.

Oh no, good sir...I dare say you are mistaken. I don't need a bypass...I am a proud owner of the ducatiboy flasher...got it when it was $25. I even posted that I think it was worth more. When I said "a little off topic" I meant my post was off topic.

I just found it ironic that when I called Pioneer today regarding my reverse cam not showing any picture, I used "avic411.com as proof that other's were experiencing the same problem. The mgr mentioned that he was aware and asked me if the post were in the "Hacks/Mods" or "Problem/Trouble shooting" section. Just wanted to point it out cause i've seen posts where people would surmise that Pioneer was monitoring the site...I know they are . Just like BMW monitors Bimmerfest.com etc...
