Interesting Issue with PAC - I assume

Here's a good one, my left speakers are all distorted sounding and the left rears do not work at all, UNTIL, I do not buckle my seatbelt and start driving, then, when the chime dings warning me about the seatbelt, I get full audio in the front, but the left rear is still missing. As long as I buckle my seatbelt every time and the chime doesn't ring again, I keep full audio. If I forget, and it chimes, it cuts out again and I have to wait until it chimes again and it will come back to full audio in the front. I am assuming this is something with the PAC unit. Sorry, I don't know firware or model # or anything. It is for an '06 2500HD Silverado. My installer wants to take out the PAC unit and replace it with another brand (peripheral? or something). My installer does good clean work and has 15 years experience but he doesn't seem up on all the newer, tech side of things. Any suggestions?

Definately sounds like either an improper interface or a bad one. Never had that kind of issue with the peripherial (sp?) gm interfaces.

Before i forget, does the truck have the bose system? I have seen issues alone the lines your describing using the nonbose interface on a bose truck, or using the non bose interface on a bose truck.

Yes, it has the Bose system. Should I just remove the entire Bose portion of the system? I will be adding some better speakers later anyway so it won't hurt my feelings.

If it's not that big of a deal, then I will leave it. Not sure what the consequences of either are.

Make sure the installer is using an interface meant for the bose system and that they're following the directions as far as setting factory radio before removing it. Removing the bose system is an option, though bypass the amp is not fun. The amp is under the center console. you'll also have to replace the speakers at the same time because the factory speakers run at 2 ohms.
