im getting ready to get a refurbished Z2 for my 2005 mustang. my question is is there any special harnesses i will need for my car and are there any installation instructions floating around that someone might have for the mustang?

Damn you people with your normal cars. I have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery with 1.25 DIN. Very odd. I can't find any info anywhere on the web about modifying it to a 2 DIN.

 So true, that's exactly what I used on my first double-DIN conversion and what I'm using on my 2nd.

My first conversion is here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/825435/3

It's a fairly detailed write-up. Only thing is, if your dash bezel is ABS instead of PC, that makes things easier because some types of ABS are easily dissolved in commonly available MEK. This makes it very easy to make an ABS paste and also incredibly easy to solvent weld. Some ABS doesn't respond well to MEK for some reason, but in that case, a very low temperature soldering iron works great for assembling pieces together.

Anyway, I took a look at a Land Rover Discovery dash pics online... you'd have your work cut out for you because it looks like the climate control would definitely need to be lowered. You'd probably have to remove whatever that little tray is below the climate control, lower it, and extend the bezel. Then a double-DIN might fit, but you'd need to do a ton of measuring before doing any cutting.

Much easier to just get an N-series!

Yup ... sounds like it will be quite the job.. especially considering I have no idea what I am doing and no experience with this kind of thing. But hey - that just makes it all the more fun.

I considered the N series but I found the screen too flimsy and the interface nowhere near as nice as the Z series. not to mention I wanted to make is as OEM looking as possible.

We will see... you will either see some posts with success stories on here... or photos of my Discovery going up in flames.

Cheers!

(thanks for the advice!)
