mute on screen all other fucntions work except sound and also have a hummin sound tried to look for loose wires but found nothing. major problem although is no sound on my D3

I just got mine installed, NO EXPERT but if you press in the volume knob for about 3-4 seconds doesn't that take it off mute?

From your owners manual:
Press and hold the VOLUME knob.
Press and hold the VOLUME knob again for
at least 2 seconds or adjust the volume to stop
the muting.

Also, if you attempted to do the bypass by grounding the mute wire but failed to relocate the wire on the harness, it will mute the unit as well.

like hifi said if the mute wire is in the moved location for the bypass and its not grounded it will show up on the screen.

^ no, it's the opposite. If you grounded that wire and didn't relocate it on the harness it will mute the unit.
