Brief description of issue:

Recently when I turn on the car, the AVIC D3 unit tries to turn on but it gives a reject code to "reinsert the proper disc" and is stuck there. I can use other functions, like the ipod, bluetooth, just the screen and navigation are stuck. I have the proper disc inserted since I have been using the navigation for a long time already. And I'd estimate 25% of the time the unit does start up properly and it functions exactly how it is supposed to, but this lasts only until I attempt to restart the car the next time. I worked through thinking it was a scratched disc, but that was not the issue.

I sent it into Pioneer because their technicians could not figure out the issue over the phone, however they were unable to duplicate the same problem in their repair shop.

Anyone else ever have this problem?

There's a few topics about this, actually. It's due to something wrong with the unit internally. The GPS chip or something like that went bad, IIRC.
