I guess i must be a moron! I just picked up the cd-1200 cord to play my iphone/ipod through the d3. I thought the cord just plugged into the front auxilary jack? When i picked up the cd-1200 cord it appears it has to be plugged into the back of the unit. Is that what I have to do with that cord? if so what is the best way to run the cord so it is not some ugly thing sticking out from your dash somewhere.

Yes, there is a dedicated ipod cable port on the rear of the unit... as far as where you can run it, that's up to WHERE you need it to run to, and the car you're installing it in.

But both of those options will not provide a charging ability, and you will have to control playback from the ipod/iphone itself

The Pioneer cable will allow you to control audio playback from the D3 as well as charge the ipod/iphone.

No, it will not allow video playback for the current generation ipods and any generation iphone... just the older ipods.
