Hey Guys I am a noobie to the Avic D3. I searched the archives and found my gps antenna could be messed up. I got my Avic D3 from my brother who sold his car. We originally bought the unit from Circut City. So, my brother had it uninstalled there. It appears they damaged the gps antenna. It looks crimped a little. I installed it into my car (Audi S4). It works great except for the gps. It puts me in a different location from where I am. I would be two or three streets over. Also, traveling on 95 yesterday I was not actually on 95. The arrow was running parallel with 95. It also is very laggy on the gps location. I checked and I have a good gps signal. So, I am a little confused. I ordered a new antenna from pioneer $65 . Do you guys think this is the problem?

It used to be installed in a different vehicle? If so, you might need to clear the learning data it gathered from the old vehicle.

MENU > SETTINGS > HARDWARE INFO > 3D CALIBRATION

Then clear out the data for the distance, speed pulse, and learning status by touching each one and hitting the clear button.

THEN do a reset to factory defaults by holding the reset button in for a few seconds while the unit is powered up.

Turn off the unti, then turn it back on, insert the nav disks, go through the initial startup procedures, etc.

Give it a shot and see if it helps.

Wow. I was having the same problem w/ my D2. I would be driving down the road and out of nowhere the arrow would just start pointing sideways and i'd have to manually change the direction the arrow was pointed just so i would be driving straight again and it would just do it again 5 minutes later  . Plus it would have me driving down every side street i came along which would totally anger the navigation lady (lol) and in turn anger me. I too bought mine used, and I just couldnt believe how many people have these and if this was a common thing why i've never heard of it before  . Thank you AVIC 411 forumers, you have saved me such a major headache. :D
