I posted not too long ago that when i played a mp3 cd it would just shut down and i couldnt turn back on. Well now it did it with the library today. I never had problems before. While im driving it will just shut off automatically and it will not likely reboot unless i turn car off and turn it back on a few times to get the power going. Now i upgraded to a z3 with a fresh image. I saw that firmware update for freezing issues at start up, but its only for z1,z2. I did that way back. Did the z3 come with the firmware updated or should i try and put the cd in. who knows if that is even the problem. It is not overheating, it wasnt even hot out.

If you did the Hard drive hack and it never did this before with your original OEM Drive, then its probably your HD.

I have a z1 and i upgraded it to z2 no problems before. Its a new HD, i still have original z1. I never had problems before. I had the z3 since it just got released on here. It must be something else. The upgrade hack worked fine. I have had a hacked new HD since the z2 maps came out and it gave me no problems. Im wondering if i need to update firmware again, but thats only for z1 and z2.

I have the NEW HD for the Z3 image... From Greytoomy... and mine works fine... try a different CD or not a burned one and see how that works.

its not even the cd issue anymore. it did it when it was just in library playing from there. it seems like it doesnt shut down at all if i have the AV off but just the navi running. Its very wierd i never had problems before. Has the road driving make something come loose?

so should i reimage the drive? It must be a power supply because i never had problems before. I dont know why would it all of sudden acting up.

it must not be my hard drive?

I would not think it was the drive. I would still like to know if you lose all power, or just the screen. I fixed a guy's avic yesterday, and the power pin was loose in his factory harness. Check the avic harness and factory harness for lose pins, if you can confirm a complete power lose.

i lose all power, the whole thing shuts off. No button lights light up. Its like sometimes tries to restart but then shuts down again and sometimes it just turns off completely until i park. Turn car off and turn it back on a few times then it kicks on. I have taken my console out before and its such a pain. So maybe road bumps wiggled it out a little? What could be loose, they dont screw in the wires. Its already on a harness, how could that thing get undone. Also why does it work perfect somedays, now it seems just shuts down randomly.

It sounds like a power issue. It could be almost anything. I have seen the wires come loose from the harness (the same way that we remove the cell mute wire to complete the bypass). Maybe a loose fuse... You will have to start troubleshooting. How often does it do it?

i drive around a few times today and it didnt happen. yesterday it did it twice and then i thought it went complete dead because it wouldnt turn on when i turned off car and back on. I did it a few times then it booted up. It doesnt do it often, but i have noticed it doing it the past week half or so. whats the power wires? I have looked behind unit before, since i had to tighten the bose adapter because speaker was coming on and off sometimes. That must of been a lose wire. What would really make it turn completely off that is plugged in, in the rear. Because some days it doesnt turn off.

The power wire will be the thick solid yellow wire.

so can that get loose? why would it get loose sometimes and then just magically go back on and be perfect. ill have to one day check everything in the back and push everything in. Is that part of a harness? How could one of those wires get undone out of the whole harness?

so what am i doing?
