I was about to get my unit installed with the ipod connector and the installer said I didn't need it because I could just use my USB - > Ipod connector that I normally use for the computer.

Does that work? And will I get all the playback functions that I would have with the pioneer connector?

Alright, thanks. Well he's gonna install it, and I'm assuming that he's going to draw the usb cable all the way to my glove compartment, so I'll just run the extra cable I already bought from there.

you can also use the apple composite cable too, both work the same, and the apple one is cheaper

One warning dude... you get what you pay for. There has been a few people I've seen here that were having ipod problems, and it turned out their cheap-o ebay ipod cable was the cause.
