i am trying to figure out a problem. i installed the D3 in my '03 CTS. The night illumination will not work. i contacted crutchfield support about the problem and they pretty much told what i already knew, that there was not a dedicated illumination wire. anyone have any ideas?

thanks!

you have to run the illumination wire to any power source that turns on when you turn your headlights on. based on the picture i saw of your headlight, it looks like you have at least one bulb that stays on constant when you hit the switch (doesnt blink when you use a turn signal) so run your ILL wire to the positive wire of that bulb

i wouldnt recmmend the low beam or sidemarker because for some vehicles, turning on the high beam turns off the low beam which would cut the power to your ILL. and sidemarkers blink so your power would go in and out.

Run ther illumination wire to your ashtray light.

If that dosnt work/unavailable, you can ture it to your headlight switch, might not be automatic, but at least you can turn it on and off.

Some installs we grabbed it at the relay under the hood for the headlights too.

thanks for the tips guys. just finished everything up. i ended up taking a wire through the firewall and hooked into the low beam fuse.
