I had the f900 installed yesterday, it is a blue dot (pioneer updated) unit. So far, it seems to work better than expected, given the problems some of you have had.
Bypass works as planned, allowing GPS destinations to be added while driving.
Bluetooth works well, my Verizon Motorola K1m krzr synced fine, and all contacts transferred . I placed some calls by contact name, and it asked which number I wanted for an individual contact. I did notice there were some contact issues with number location definitions ("work" number for a contact showed as "general" number). The mic is installed above my rear view mirror, and it's a good 2 feet away from me. Sound quality is fine, but I do have to keep the volume turned way up for anyone to hear me well.
The ipod interface seems to work well, I have a 3rd gen Nano. It lets me use voice commands to play by artist, etc. I did turn off the VR catolog after the 1st sync.
I can use voice to change between sources, used Sirius, Ipod, Fm, etc.I do need to relocate the Sirius antenna on the SCC1, the installer located it on the dash and I get some drops in the wooded areas.
I connected the MSN Direct, but had to call to have them resend the activation signal. I live on the north fringe end of the coverage area, but it did give me some traffic updates as soon as it activated. The gas prices, movies and weather took awhile to update.I drove into Houston this morning, and the gps automatically rerouted me around some traffic accidents that were on my route! I did notice that the signal meter never seemed to gain any increased strength, but I guess that's OK as long as I get updates.
I also added a rear camera, and it automatically starts when you shift into reverse. You can also use it while driving by hitting av source, then touching the rear camera tab at the top.
Boot time is about 1 minute. The music starts in about 15-20 seconds , then the rear camera comes on a few seconds later, followed by the bluetooth connection at about 45 seconds , then the gps warning comes up last.
All in all, I like the features for the money. I originally had planned to buy the Kenwood dnx8120 since I have had Garmin units in the past, but the voice control and lower pricing were the big deciding factors for me. Now if I could just get the GPS cursor to change to an FJ Cruiser like I had on my Garmin 660 ![]()
