locks up, and won't do ANYTHING.

has locked up the last 3 times have tried to use.

how often is this happening?

If it's under warranty, send it in. You should have kept both these in 1 single topic, as they are clearly related to each other.

i went back to the D3 software

(I had bought some DVD's from a newer unit on here - maybe a Z1 or __ theres a thread on it)

I thought that was a good deal because it had newer maps and updated the software.

and I did both resets (in the menu and the button)

and no problems since I went back to the OEM D3 disks.

the volume control has to be spun fast enough to "wake up"

so if you just turn it slow, it doesn't work

you have to zing it to get it to work.

i always use the remote, so never noticed.

it's not worth sending it back

if it breaks, it's a $500 paperweight

if not, it's just a cheap Navi system that will get you most places, and do most things you want reasonably well.

the D3 is a cheap "entry level" unit with poor GUI
