I am writing prematurely, I'm sure. I have been the owner of an AVIC-D3 with bluetooth kit for about 6 months. I was excited to try it out and make it work. The first problem was iPhone non-compatibility with addressbook. The second problem was the install itself -- I lost use of my subwoofer in my Honda Element 2008 EX along with the steering wheel controls. The final problem was the odd and frequent navigation problems routing me in crazy places. I decided last week to uninstall this unit and went, not to best buy, but to a local installer to try out other units. I settled on the Alpine IVA-W505.
There is no moral of the story. I have purchased two units this year unnecessarily without getting the proper help from professionals and now I'm paying for it, but finally learning my lesson. Yes, they are salesmen, but they also have to stand behind their products and installations (if they're reputable in the community) so they can get referral business.
Am trying to at least pass on my experiences and what I learned from them.
