Thanks for the response. But I just bought and installed a refurb unit. (It works great by the way.) And there are ten or so strange genre names already in the Z2 unit, only two of which I want to keep. Can I change the genre playlist names already in the Z2?

Not that I know of. what i would suggest is write those songs down, completely erase the HDD, download those songs, and start over organizing everything yourself.

How does one erase the HDD? I spent most of the afternoon/evening deleting playlists, editing ID3 tags, writing CD R's, etc. and each time I load a CD on to the Z2, I get these screwy genre names. None of the genre names I entered into the ID3 tags appear on the Z2. I suspect I am not properly erasing the HDD. What i am doing to erase the HDD is deleting all of the albums from the playlists. Is that all there is to erasing the HDD? I think that there is some area on the HDD that is not being erased and it is setting the genre names each time I load a CD R. Consequently, all of the tunes I load are being places in the "Other" genre.

You can't enter in your own Genres (like when you are entering the ID tags before burning your CD).

You can only select Genres from the pre-selected list only the Z1-Z3's list of genres.

So you have to assign each individual track with the genre available on the Z3's list only.

What happens if you burn a CD using CD-Text to include ID3 information and you use a Genre that isn't on the list? Will it add the new Genre to the list on your Avic, or will it assign the song to a different Genre that is already included?

For example, burn a CD with a bunch of Country songs with the CD-Text info burned to the disk. Will the Avic add the Country genre to it's list, or do something else?
