Alright, the question that has been on here before. I searched the site for the bypass but am still unclear. I see people sell bypasses on ebay that takes 30 minutes to setup. But from what i see on here it looks like it would take 5 minutes? Could someone tell me specifically how to do this and is the ebay just a rip off?

Thanks in advance

You do not need anything other than what comes in the box with the nav unit. The instructions are on the Hacks/Mods: D-Series board. They are stickied at the top of the page. There are like 4 of them, with detailed instructions and pictures.

Thanks HIFISI!

Looks like a job I can tackle! Just one last thing, here is the directions on the hack part:

1. Remove the yellow and black mute wire.

2. Place the Mute wire in the slot directly above where you removed it from.

3. Using a wire tap (radio shack 10 for $5) connect the mute wire to the ground.

4. Using the wire tap (that is already attached to the parking break wire/green wire) attach it to the ground wire as well.

5. GROUND the BLACK WIRE....AKA GROUND DUH! ENJOY!

If i put the mute wire in the spot above it how do I ground that wire then? Is that wiretap a new form of grounding, I am from old school where you just screwed the wire to the frame? How does that wire tap work?

Thanks again in advance

tysmith14,

I'm betting that you've already completed this but...

I think the idea is to ground that pin itself not to use it for a ground

you're just using the mute wire so you have a wire that fits nicely in the plug end

it is very easy. The wire-tap works like this...you take the black wire as the run-through wire and then run the Mute wire into the slot that is blocked and then clamp it down.

It took me no more then 30 minutes to do it all yesterday. :-)

I still can't see iPOD video's, but I think that is a functionality issue more then the bypass not working.
