Birthday Present!

Birthday present to myself this year is Nav/Entertainment system.

I had my heart set on the F90BT, but from the reviews on here it sounds like I should stay away from it unless I want to idle for 3 minutes prior to starting every trip.

What would you recommend as the best alternative?

Nav, ipod control, XM integration and bluetooth are important to me.

Thanks so much guys!

only takesabout 50 seconds to load and the good thing is it is totally hackable because it is based off of a windows system. Thanks to all those computer skilled gurus on this board i have no regrets from this unit. There are still some kinks with the ipod connection just the fact that you have to reconnect it every time you get in the car and the unit is booted up. But we are still waiting on a second update so we shall see what that brings us

Kenwood DNX-5120 or DNX-8120 would be my choices if I was doing it over again.

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately 50secs, is still a long time to sit in a car idling before you can in put your destination. If I had faith that in the future they would release an update that sped up bootup time, even to 30 sec, I would defintely get the F90BT.

Skicrave, I was looking at the 5120 and 8120, and mostly liked what I saw (other than the garmin interface). DO you have any thoughts on the JVC KW-NX7000 as an option? Heck I even saw that Audiovox/jensen has a bluetooth nav system.

CHeers,.

None of the other units seem to have the same XM radio features as the F-series. I am used ti the stand alone XM radios, in which you can program and artist and every one of their songs play on any channel you are alerted. The F-Series seems to have this functionality as well, but the neither the JVC nor Kenwood do :(.

Why oh why does the F90bt have to be everything I want? (this is the part where I prostrate myself before the heavens, shaken my fist in hopeless frustration.

:P I always go for the underdog so I know i am going to end up getting the F90bt, because I dislike the JVC interface and the kenwood is priced far to high for me.

Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks :).

ALthought, I was just reading the Z2/Z3 reviews.... it looks pretty awesome too, yet I haven't heard it brought up much as an alternative. What makes the Kenwood better than this unit? Any ideas?

The Pioneer units have the XM memo function but only for the songs that you select to memorize and only when you can catch them playing can you actually hit the memo button. You also only get 12 memory locations to memorize songs. The Kenwood also has a similar function with the GXM 30 XM tuner. It will allow you to memorize quite a few more then the Pioneer. However, what I didnt like about the Kenwood was that you had to be in scan mode for this to work and it would change the station in the middle of a song if it alerted to one of your memorized songs/artist and you didnt know when it was going to do it. It would just changed without your permission. The Pioneer will give you an alert and prompt you to hi OK or it will disappear in about 10 seconds.

Its not flawless, it has issues as well just not nearly as bad as the Pioneer.
