Steo Reception Stops

My Stereo receiver (ie: AM/FM) reception just goes out completely. It will not come back on no matter what I do. I switch to ipod for a couple of days and try it again and it's working again. If I change the channel, it might go out again. If a call comes in, after the call ends and the stereo switches back on, the reception goes out.

The little satellite receiver indicator shows absolutely no reception when it goes out.

I have checked the antennae wire and it is connected. Disconnecting and reconnecting has no affect.

Any ideas?

Is the blue wire on the power/speaker harness hooked up? That is the power antenna wire and if your car has an antenna amplifier in it, and a good deal of them do these days, that wire is needed to get a proper signal.

I will take it back in and have it checked. The stereo worked fine for like 3 months but then cut off one day when I changed the channel. The next day it was back on but then turned off when a call came in and would not come back on. Now it will go days without coming on. When it comes on, it will stay on until I change the channel, get an incoming call, or kill the engine and then it may not come on for several more days.

The unit is in a 2006 Ford F-150 King Ranch series pick up.
