I'm installing my F700 tomorrow and just wanted to know if the reverse wire is necessary or not. I'm not hooking up a reverse camera and if I do down the road I can always connect it in then. The biggest question I have is whether the reverse wire has anything to do with navigation or if it only is used to turn on the rearview camera. Thanks.
Reverse Wire Necessary?
it tells the unit that you are going in reverse so the arrow will go backwards instead of forward. so i would say yes it is important
That's what I wasn't sure of. Can anyone else confirm this, and I'm not sure how terribly important that is.
i didnt have mine hooked up for about a month and when i parked in the garage it would always go forward when i was in reverse and take about a minute to get back on track. this was always a headache when setting a route at home. it only takes a minute to hook up so why not just do it.
I never bothered hooking it up. Doesn't really matter unless your looking at the gps while in reverse.
Simple solution. Don't hook them up. Use the nav for a while, and if it's not accurate enough for your liking, pull the radio out and hook them up.

I'll go simpler than that. Just hook it up!!
Well I hooked it up. It was a pain in the ass to get to, but oh well. Thanks for the replies.
Is your reverse hooked up? It has a play in your nav. as well.
