any favorite software out there to convert videos to ipod friendly format? also i'm running into an aspect ratio problem ... i don't really care about how it looks on the ipod screen.. but rather the aspect ratio on the F series screen... any ideas what's the best route for conversion?
DVD to iPod you can use a program called Handbrake.
handbrake is for mac .. no?
Yes, but it still works on windows. It's what i used to convert all my DVD's to ipod movies.
handbrake only works for DVDS.. won't do .avi and .mpg

DVD Fab should work you can also use nero

There is literally HUNDREDS of programs on the market for converting video to ipod format.
Check this out... on download.com there are 76 programs with the tags "ipod video converter" and they are ALL FREE.
trust me .. i've been trying them.... does it hurt to ask if anyone has experience already... that may save me HOURS of trying the HUNDREDS of programs out there.. plus encoding time?
there's a lot of trial and error involved... and if it's been done .. why do it again?

xiliosoft's converter seems to work best in 640*480 resolution and AUTO PAN SCAN enabled...
